A new survey by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America reveals some shocking statistics:

>> Some 52.8% of children say their parents have never surfed the Internet with them.

>> Some 53.4% of children say their parents never ask who they are talking with online.

>> While two-thirds of children say a parent has restricted online access at least to some extent, only 18.1% report that their parents are in the room while they are online.

>> Some 20% of children post personal information on social-networking sites, such as MySpace and Facebook, or to video-sharing sites, such as YouTube.

The majority of the parents who participated in this study need to step up their involvement with their kids Internet usage. There are clear, easy steps parents can take to prevent the potential harm that can come from poor internet habits.
